Non Surgical Stem Cell Facial Rejuvenation and Face Lift
Non Surgical Facial Rejuvenation with Stem Cell has become a hot topic. Every Plastic Surgeon, Dermatologist and Cosmetic Surgeon is talking about it and it seems that everybody is doing it. The majority of doctors out there are using the words Stem Cell Face lift but in fact all they are doing is fat grafting to the face. It is true that fat contains Adult Stem Cells and there fore by using fat, they are grafting a certain number of Stem cells. But this is nothing new and their advertising is misleading because they make it sound like they are doing something new when in reality fat grafting has been around for more then twenty years! Not to say that fat grafting is a very god tool of facial rejuvenation but it is definitely not new.
What is instead very new and on the cutting edge is a new technology that is on the horizon which allows really isolating stem cells from fat trough a complicated enzymatic treatment and concentrating them almost ten times more then the fat. This turbo charged graft is then re-injected in the face. With this technology we see that the stem cell grafts are more predictable in longevity and, in my opinion, tend to be more effective in jump starting the skin rejuvenation itself.
Again we are really in the early stage of this technology and in U.S. are still not FDA approved but available for off label use by doctors. In Europe, Dr. Calabria has already performed several facial rejuvenation procedures, including the Stem-Cell Enhanced face lift and the non surgical Stem Cell Face Lift with great results.
The non surgical Stem Cell Face Lift involves a procedure under local anesthesia to harvest the fat. Then the fat is treated by the device which allows isolating and concentrating Adult Stem Cells. Then the Stem Cells are again mixed with the fat, creating a so called turbo charged stem cell fat grafting. Then, with micro-cannulas and 1cc syringes the Stem Cells are then placed, under local anesthesia, in the face with multiple passes. This placement not only create a more youthful look by adding volume on the face that was lost with aging but also, theoretically, improves the texture of the skin by creating new blood vessels and increase blood flow.
In only a few days, under local anesthesia the facial rejuvenation process takes place and the results are very natural and with little down time and without the need of invasive procedures. Of course, not everybody is a candidate, and not every surgeon is an expert, so patient education is very important.
Again it is important to distinguish the "real" Stem Cell Face Lift with the cutting edge technology versus traditional fat grafting.
