Wrinkles, fine lines, sagging skin!

Some of the most noticeable and frustrating effects of age appear on the face, and since our faces are the most visible parts of our body, these aesthetic concerns can make us look older and more run down than we actually are.

And while the good news is that there are ways to combat these age-related facial issues, the confusing part is in knowing which treatment and technique is right for you and your specific concerns.

Facelift surgery is by far one of the most well-known and popular plastic surgery procedures (which can be seen by the fact that nearly 235,000 facelift procedures were performed in 2020 alone).

However, many men and women are hesitant about invasive surgery. Because of this, many patients hear the words “non-surgical facelift” and think that this procedure is perfect for them.

However, is that really true?

We’ll explore that answer below to help you better understand the different facelift options available to you.

What Is the Difference Between Facelift Surgery and a Non-surgical Facelift Procedure?

As the name suggests, a non-surgical facelift addresses some of the same aesthetic concerns as a surgical facelift but without the surgery. However, due to the nature of these procedures, not all of the results are the same.

Like facelift surgery, a non-surgical facelift addresses wrinkles and fine lines in the face; however, sagging skin cannot be corrected, since sagging skin is removed surgically during a facelift.

The other difference between these procedures is that a non-surgical facelift can add volume to the face, where facelift surgery cannot. It is important to understand these distinctions as you consider which procedure you may want to undergo.

How Is Facelift Surgery Performed?

Dr. Calabria is a board-certified plastic surgeon who has helped to pioneer the vertical facelift. This specific type of facelift procedure is one of the most effective facial techniques, since it pulls the skin vertically to allow for a more natural appearance.

For this procedure, Dr. Calabria will make two small incisions on the sides of your face. Through these incisions, fat and tissue can be repositioned and secured. Sagging skin will then be surgically trimmed away, and your skin will be pulled vertically before the incisions are closed to give you a more naturally contoured appearance that can help you look as young as you feel.

How Is a Non-surgical Facelift Performed?

Dr. Calabria uses stem cells in his non-surgical facelift procedure to help give his patients the very best results possible. Stem cells are essentially the raw material of our bodies that can aid the body in creating a specific aesthetic appearance. One of the benefits of this procedure is that the stem cell-containing fat is collected from your own body, which means that nothing foreign is put into your face.

For this procedure, stem cells are collected from your own body through liposuction. The removed fat is placed in the Celution® device, which purifies the fat, stem cells, and regenerative cells. This purified solution is then injected strategically into various areas of your face.

The stem cells help to improve growth factors while creating new blood vessels in the skin for continued rejuvenation to the face. The non-surgical stem cell facelift helps to fill in skin creases (minimizing and/or eliminating the presence and appearance of wrinkles and fine lines), as well as helping to restore lost volume in various areas of the face.

What Is the Best Facelift Option for Correcting Sagging Skin and Jowls?

Since a non-surgical facelift procedure cannot address sagging skin (and jowls are the result of skin laxity), this procedure is not the best option for correcting the presence of jowls.

Instead, facelift surgery, which removes excess skin in the face, is best for addressing jowls as well as other skin laxity that can come with age. As noted above, because a non-surgical stem cell facelift is an injectable procedure, it works best for adding volume to gaunt and thin areas of the face.

However, by adding stem cells to your vertical facelift, you can achieve the very best results possible, since you are effectively combining two effective procedures into one.

For stem cell facelift surgery, Dr. Calabria will perform a vertical facelift while also injecting stem-cell enriched fat into specific areas of the face that suffer from age-related volume loss.

The end results of this procedure is stunning, giving you a more youthful look to your skin; a more contoured facial appearance; and a fuller, healthier facial structure that can have you smiling with pride every time you see your reflection in the mirror.
